Really? Your Acer? The same one I have? Beryl worked just fine for me - as stable as it ever was
Its an Aspire 1690, very similar to yours (without the Core Duo). I mean, I haven't played tooooo extensively with Beryl. But I know that it just doesn't work "out of the box" with most Beryl-equipped distros (PCLinuxOS). Although I haven't tried Feisty yet. Maybe now is the time!
