I had ask for nubies to step forward before thinking that we could work on a topic for our own edification but also as a potential to be a talk or a future workshop.
Clug has always had the same familar faces that come forward to give talks or lead workshops. There is no reason why others can not develop the expertise through collaboration. While we are all grateful for the unselfish time that these individuals have given up to share their knowledge, it is time that us lesser being start helping ourselves. A small group with some Linux knowledge working together can be just as effective as a group lead by a guru. This is not to say we won't make mistakes, we will but we will learn from those mistakes and gurus are much more willing to help when we have make strides in our own understanding. Here is what I am looking for - a hand full of people so that we can do it in an office without having to be dependent upon other facilities. Timeframe - a morning or afternoon on a weekend with completion in one or two weekend. Present what we learn back to the group as a mini presentation at a GM (you can lead if you feel comfortable, you can just contribute by filling in the blanks in the presentation if you like, or you can just contribute to the preparation and sit back on presentation day). Time schedule for the upcoming month is the same as for the GnuCash workshop as follows: Jun 9-10, not good, too short notice for most and we also have an InstallFest Jun 16-17, Father's day weekend but still ok if the participants are willing Jun 23-24, a good weekend Jun 30-Jul1, not a good weekend - it is a long weekend for some Just an aside, I have played with Samba and permissions last week and feel reasonably comfortable with it, however I have not looked at using Domains with PDC and BDC. Certainly working with others for 3-4 hours would certainly fortify my knowledge and confidence level. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
