It's all about sharing. Generally you want to keep your share ratio above 0.8, 
meaning you upload 80% as much as you download. Any less than that and the 
tracker will begin to shun you. I personally keep mine above 1.

That means allow a reasonable amount of upload bandwidth,  and a reasonable 
amount of upload slots. Set it up to seed files after you are done 
downloading and to stop seeding when the ratio on that file hits a certain 
point (mine is at 1.5)

Also, turn it on before you go to bed even if you're not downloading.
