-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 You should upgrade from 6.06 to 6.10 then to 7.04
You do not need a CD for this, just some bandwidth. In /etc/apt/sources.list change all references of dapper to edgy (then next time around change edgy to feisty). sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude dist-upgrade Since your install is this old, I would just reinstall clean. There are a ton of changes under the hood between 6.06 and 7.04 I just finished upgrading my Edgy install to Feisty. Since I tend to make a mess of my /etc/apt/sources.list if my upgrades are successful then yours should be too. To find your version, do: cat /etc/lsb-release You should see output similar to the following: DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=6.06 DISTRIB_CODENAME=dapper DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS" TekBudda wrote: > Well...I finally found a new hard for the IBM ThinkPad laptop I was given > from someone at work.
