Hi, I just signed up to the mailing list on the advice of Mitchell and I thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Greg and I am a nixaholic. I've posted in the forums on clug.ca before - under the name Mantwon. My professional background is in information security, I had been working for a company in Japan from early 2003 until mid 2006 when I left to pursue other opportunities. I now have a few projects on the go that are my own but as of recent have been seeking full time employment. I run Gentoo on everything except my MythTV system, which I run Ubuntu on. I started my Linux experience with Red Hat 4.2 (I might actually have the CD laying around here somewhere), My friend from Boston that I knew on IRC had mailed me a fresh copy of it and I started playing, months later I was in love with it and never wanted to turn back to the world of Windows. >From there I got interested in security and was always talking about security related things on IRC with my friends. In 2003 I had the opportunity to turn my hobby in to work and I went for it. I am still involved with security and enjoy it but I've shifted my focus over to more of a systems engineer type mindset, I've been working on my own sort of clustering system for the last year as one of my projects and have deployed it and am currently testing it with one of my projects. I've signed up to the tech list / talk list, so I am sure you will hear more of me in the future, as I am still very interested in a lot of Linux based technologies. I am usually not very social with other "nix nerds" but I am trying to change that and get more involved with the community, as I am trying to find employment now in this field HEHE so if anyone is looking for an experienced Linux person do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks, Greg _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
