I use syncmab for address books and I use Sunbird and Lightening to view/edit my calendar. All the transfers occur across the webdav share. The only weakness is that there is no offline mode. Also my palm is very unhappy with the ical files (which I use korganizer/kpilot to read the ics and transfer to my palm).
Hope this gives some ideas. Also, I have a script that backs everything up every 4 hours (using rdiff and hard links) as sometimes the ics file gets corrupt (usually this occurs when the pilot syncs).
