I have used the LIVe cd from COSSFEST, the disk from Canocical & a burnt 
copy of the alternate iso from ubuntu website.  This is an old ThinkPad 
laptop and so is likely using an old intel processor running at 600 Mhz 
& 256 MB of RAM (i think).  Distros I have used have all been 32-bit.

One thing I have found on using the live cd and doing the install from 
there is that it is now stalling on the detecting files systems.  I 
should not also that the win 2k is a fresh install so no reason to 
defrag as per some of the how2 tos titorials aetc, which I have followed 
from what I can see.
