| Bottom line: Is there a lawyer in the house? It would make for a very
| interesting discussion.
| Have the planners for monthly CLUG meetings ever considered inviting a
| lawyer to talk on these very issues? HINT. HINT. It would be fascinating.

Having grown up around lawyers, I think you and I have very different
ideas about interesting. I also suspect that what you are looking for
does not exist. There is no magic formula, there is not even a single
Intellectual Property field of law (copyright is different from
patent...) let a lone a proper and complete answer to what is legal or
illegal.

| Touché, Shawn, for your insight.

| P.S. The writer made me think about Abbie Hoffman's book, Steal This
| Book
| (1971)
| still available from amazon.com, I see. What would have happened, I
| wonder, if I had really walked into a Chapters or a Coles (when it
| existed) and tried to steal the book? Guess? ;-)

Walking in to a store and physically stealing is well defined by our
laws. What this article discusses is not. The laws will change, but
they are always behind the times. I also do not equate legal issues
with moral ones. Something can be both legal and immoral and the same
time. Complicating this further, our morals as a society change over
time as well.

| Theft is bad. Agreed.
|
| Where we don't agree is if any theft would have occurred in the case of
| an Open WiFi.
