Mark is bang on here regarding the memory. I recently had problems
getting my full 4 GB to work, and it was due to the 32 bit kernel.
After upgrading to the 64bit OS, going through 4 motherboards (seperate
issues) and updating my cpu and ram in the process, I am now happily
running with 8 GB fully available. (I run multiple VMs simultaneously -
so it comes in handy).

With regards to the network issues... Broadcomm NICS are very much hit
and miss. As I understand things Broadcomm refuses to work with the
open source community, which means their chips have minimal, or no
support under Linux. Some folks have success with ndiswrapper, while
others just give up on the card and install a separate pc-card.

Also, the meeting tonight is NOT the regular CLUG meeting - it is a
PROGSIG meeting. I'm not sure how much help can be offered, with the
presentation going on. (not that someone wouldn't try....) But, you
might have better luck at the regular CLUG meeting next Wednesday. Just
a thought.
