I have had very poor experiences with HP notebooks.  My two year old
dual core Turion still has issues (like a flaky USB bus, cheap hardware
that is still not well supported by Linux, like the broadcomm wifi
adaptor that you cannot replace) so I have a hard time recommending
them, particularly to Linux users.

If you check out Emperor Linux they have a tablet PC that is preloaded
with Linux.  I believe it is a Lenovo X series, so you should be able to
get one of those to bend to your will.
