If you come to the next CLUG meeting you can borrow the Rosegarden book
that I have. It is a few versions out of date but the majority of the
book is still relevant. It also does a pretty decent job of introducing
you to jack.

My last laptop was a nightmare, which drove me back to the desktop.

Just my observation, but it appears to me that Linux audio groups tend
to be less forgiving of newbies than other communities. I would hazard
to say that this is the #2 source of frustration for people new to Linux
audio (with #1 being driver issues). Since you have been around the
block a few times you should not have any problems fitting in. There
are a great bunch of people involved.

It sure has. It was a document that I wished existed in the 90s when I
started.

NP, I am glad that there is more than one of me in town now :)
