Just my observation, but it appears to me that Linux audio groups tend to be less forgiving of newbies than other communities. I would hazard to say that this is the #2 source of frustration for people new to Linux audio (with #1 being driver issues). Since you have been around the block a few times you should not have any problems fitting in.
