Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply and for the link.   I tried to follow the procedure
given in

http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/amd64/release-notes/

But I guess I didn't follow it closely enough.  Perhaps the easiest thing to
do now is to  download an iso file, burn it to a DVD and boot from that.
