I usually tend to focus on the hardware and then wipe whatever comes
pre-loaded. I also, do not worry about the so called Microsoft tax
since most companies make more in ad revenue from all the pre-loaded
"trial" crap than the their cost of putting Windows on the machine.
Dell also had more options so I could get pretty much exactly the
laptop
I wanted.
Of course I don't get to make a dramatic statement that almost no one
will notice with my purchase, but you get to make your own choices.
So, in focusing on the hardware, my two current favorites are the Dell
Latitude series (I currently own an E6400) and the IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad
series (I currently own an older X41 from 2005).
