We've had Telus cell service for the past 3 years and not been happy with
them. Our contract is up this month and we are looking at alternatives. We
don't need much, just telephone service. We don't do messaging or hook to the
Internet and seldom use more than 50 minutes a month. We occasionally travel
to the US and would like to make the occasional call down there, so few that
paying for each will be pretty minor. We live in Okotoks and travel around the
foothills so coverage could be an issue.

We have a Motorola V710 that does all we need and then some. We've talked to
Solo and Fido so far, but we are not sure where we'll settle in. The point is
that they all tell us that we can't use our Motorola because it's locked to
Telus? Is that true or can I unlock it somehow? Basic service cost is a factor
and Solo, Fido, and Virgin have $15.00/month monthly basis service that seems
to fit us. Any thoughts gratefully accepted.
