You could try 711 speakout. http://speakout7eleven.ca/
Their rates work out to 20 cents per min. if you buy $75 or $100 top ups. The good think about 711 is that the top ups last for 12 months and there are no monthly fees. The deal is hard to beat if you have low usage. Caller ID and voice mail are included in the plan. You can retrieve your voice mail from a land-line phone and avoid paying airtime. The bad news is that you can't use your telus phone even if it was unlocked. The Telus network uses CDMA, while the 711 phones run on the Rogers network which uses GSM. The good news is that 711 is selling its' phones for half price if you purchase a $100 refill. The phones start at $59 regular price, so you can get a phone for less than $30.00. One thing you should be aware of is that the 711 phones do not operate outside Canada. If you want more info on 711 service try The Unofficial 7-Eleven Speak Out Wireless Canada Consumer Page at http://www.speakoutwireless.ca/ Hope that this is of some help, Peter On Mon, Sep 14, 2009 at 2:29 PM, Dick Angus<[email protected]> wrote: > We've had Telus cell service for the past 3 years and not been happy with > them.
