Are you sure you can connect a TV to your computer?  In most cases you
can only do this in one of the following scenarios:
- The computer was designed to be connected to a Monitor and/or a TV
- The TV was designed to support VGA, DVI, and/or HDMI input
- You have a somewhat expensive converter that takes VGA in and
produces SVIDEO or RCA video output

A note about the third one: There are very cheap adapters ($10) that
look like they convert VGA to SVIDEO.  They do not convert anything.
Some video cards output an SVIDEO signal on the VGA port, and this
adapter is designed for those cards.

Right now it sounds like you do not have all of the hardware required
to connect your TV to your PC.
