I guess to pipe in here & offer some insight. I have traditionally been a Gnome guy & have tended to avoid KDE....not really for any particular purpose...just did.
With the advent of gnome 3 & unity I thought I would give it a shot. I have worked with unity on my wives netbook & desktop & she really likes it. But I found a few frustrations with it. I still plan on trying out gnome 3 a little more than the peripheral look I took at it recently. I am currently using KDE on kubuntu 11.10. Again a few frustrations...but I am making myself work through it. Not like it is difficult...but....i want to learn & stuff. I have tried a few of the different interfaces on offer with KDE (i.e. netbook navigation, etc.) but still prefer the standard start menu method. I am also using this as my full transition to a primarily Linux world as well. A transition I have been doing for years. For example...right now I am trying to setup up a connection to an OpenVPN connection but it does not seem to work on Kubuntu 11.10 (which is Linus 3.0 based) but works on Eeebuntu (Linux 2.6.X based). Frustrating...but still need to get it working. Would welcome any ideas people could offer. Actually...I beleieve Eeebuntu is XFCE based & I actually like it quite a bit. Running on a first generation netbook & is snappy stable & easy to use. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
