Nice project, i'd be glad to take a look at it (and hopefully bring some help). I believe clutter could be a very great platform for implementing something like LainOS (http://lainos.sourceforge.net/ -- born dead project). The previous post of mallum ("media centers are the new window managers" [1]) might well be true, except that there's no external application integration sofar (apart of webkit, which is a very nice start). Hopefully gtk offscreen features will let integrate existing gtk apps more easily, this offering clutter-based projects to act as real window managers ? > Somewhere on you mailing lists and your webpage was mentioned, that Clutter > should work without the X-Server by using and SDL backend. Well, you'd "just" need a hardware-accelerated framebuffer module, and i don't think that exists outside of some very specific hardware. > We didn't manage to find out anything about using Clutter without X-Server, > except the videos of Clutter on the iPhone/iPod, so we'd like to ask you, > how this can be done. Please keep in mind that the XGL backend is the most complete one, and that an X server doesn't necessarily imply a huge performance loss/overhead -- not to mention the number of applications that rely on X. Hope it helps a bit ! [1] http://www.clutter-project.org/blog/?p=47 Florent -- To unsubscribe send a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
