CMakeError.log contains:

 cc1plus: error: unrecognized option `-fPIE'

It is a very old OS X:

 $ sw_vers
 ProductName:    Mac OS X
 ProductVersion: 10.3.9
 BuildVersion:   7W98
 $ g++ --version
 g++ (GCC) 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1666)

and so probably doesn't understand PIE.
