Title: Rena Please respond...Overlapping assessment windows
As with surveyors, when someone tells you something, ask for a reference.   When I was working to help a facility and they had a question I would NEVER give an answer unless I had the reference in my hand or VERY near-by.  There is nothing worse than erroneous info when you're trying to play by the rules.

This is what I just LOVE (NOT) about some consultants.  It frustrates me to no end when I hear about consultants who are being paid to disseminate patently wrong information.

You will not find any sort of documentation to verify this, because it is hogwash.

And to all you consultants on the list, I am not talking about you.  If you are on this list, it means you have an interest in knowing the most current information and keeping on top of changes and trends in the RAI process. It's the ones who couldn't cut it in the real world of LTC, go out and incorporate themselves, build a website and print up a bunch of flyers and business cards!  One such consultant in my area has a website that offers services to ensure "HIPPA" compliance.  Now, I am no expert, but I think that if you are going to set yourself up as an authority on a particular subject, perhaps you should spell it correctly on your website.

Subject: Rena Please respond...Overlapping assessment windows

We have been told by a consultant that having assessments with overlapping dates in the reference period is Medicare fraud.  This person stated that if you use day 8 for you 5 day assessment then you need to move your 14 day assessment out as well so you don't overlap windows.

Is there any document out there to verify this?

Thanks in advance
