Hi Dolores, I meant mediation but I cracked myself up
over my own error. Their ad does not say medication but mediation. What I
was referring to was the confusion over mediation which will only be used
in non quaility of care issues but the fact sheet
infers it is for quality of care complaints. We asked about this on the
phone conference and this is how they want it printed. They told us we know our
clients best and we should only explain the true meaning if we didn't think it
would upset them???? The QIO stated they would take care of
the clarification of this wording when they speak to the
beneficiary. Jeanne

Jeanne, this is fantastic, perhaps HHS is fed up with complaints and they are offering psychoactive medication to reduce the complaints. Who knows, perhaps it will help, should we apply? I think everyone on the list is a good candidate considering how much we all complain about quality of care.
Isn't this just typical government? Who does their editing?
OK, no flames, chill out
DeloresOn September 15th 2003 CMS and HHS rolled out a new program where they will be offering medication "as an optional method to resolve quality of care complaints that Medicare patients or their representatives file involving a practitioner or healthcare provider." I feel the part in quotes is misleading but that is exactly how it is printed on handouts that we have been provided by our QIO here in NJ. The reason I feel this way is the voluntary mediation will be offered
