There are guidelines in the RAI manual. Follow those
guidelines (Chapter 2.2) If there is a consistent
pattern of changes with either 2 or more areas of
decline or two or more areas of improvement, then SCSA
is appropriate. If you are not sure, give the team 2
weeks to decide. Schedule for another IDCP meeting
after 2 weeks. If it does not resolve itself without
intervention by staff, impacts more than one area of
the resident's health status and requires
interdisciplinary review and/or revision of the care
plan, then you proceed to a SCSA.
