I was at a conference today and it was made very clear that the day you actually sign the MDS is the date you put next to your signature.  If a staff member is not available the day that the MDS is printed and needs to be signed, they need to have a back up plan - they need to make arrangements for someone else to sign for them.  This back up person is signing that they have reviewed the MDS and agree with the information in those sections.

Subject: Signature Question

I have a "simple " question.

The signatures on the MDS   section AA9--I just started at a new facility and the other disciplnes will not sign the MDS if they were not at work that day.

EXAMPLE   ARD 11/1  they have 3 days to put it in the computer  (due by 11/3) print date 11/4

now, what date should they sign?  If they enter it into the computer shouldnt they sign it regardless if they were there on the print date?
I've been doing this for 7 years and I know I'm not going crazy...Maybe I am ......

Thanks
