I think terminology has caused some problems on this.....I think Theresa means that the 60 day count is not INTERRUPTED and picked back up where you left off.....but that the hospital stay STOPS the 60 day count for a break and you must begin counting again at day 1 when the resident is again at a non-skilled level of care, i.e. discharged from the hospital or SNF stay.

Yes, the hospital will interrupt the 60 day count.  The hospital stay is considered to be a skilling service.  You will start your count from the residents last day of skilled service, no matter whether hospital or SNF.  Your message below is contradictory.

The hospital stay WILL NOT interrupt the 60 days. It is 60 days without a hospital or SNF inpatient stay

Start the count for 60 day break again at 11/18. The hospital stay interrupted the 60 day period of wellness.

she need a 60 day break between, i.e., 60 days from 10/3, and that is

Subject: Clarification on 60 days break

Hi everyone, I need clarification on 60 days break. I have a resident that
completed 100 MCR days on 10/3/03. She went to hosp. 11/14/03 and readmit
back to our facility 11/17/03. My question is, is it before she reach 60
days or after 60 days.
Thanks for all your response.
