I'm confused, what is "transported by gurney via transport company"? Is this different from a stretcher and ambulance?

I think that this is my big question. Why did the resident go by the private gurney and not by ambulance? If she was on bedrest, then she likely should have by ambulance due to the strict bedrest.

I would think that if the patient was on strict bedrest that the ambulance would be considered medically necessary therefore covered by Med A. But those are just my thoughts.

Scenario; A Part A resident develops a suspected DVT and is ordered to the local acute hospital for ultrasound. Since the woman is on strict bedrest, she is transported via gurney by our local transport company. Resident returns and our Administrator states family must pay for this transport! Is this legal? I need as many responses as possible.
I received exactly one response to this question. Thank you all so much!
