I too have had experience with extremely supportive and compassionate surveyors. Although they would never tell us exactly what to do to correct something they would lead us in the right direction or respond to recommendations that we made. I’m sure they are cautious as not all interpret or look for things in exactly the same way. Many wouldn’t want to set you up for failure. As long as the ultimate result meets their criteria, it doesn’t always matter how you reached the conclusion….

Do you really think that a surveyor is going to tell you how to fix this? It has been my experience that the surveyors don't and won't give advice of any kind.

Since I get flamed by MANY members of this group very frequently for my direct comments, you might be surprised to find I find this comment way out of line and "offensive," to quote certain members.

Yes, I've had a surveyor tell me "I don't have to show YOU anything, you have to show me!"

(true story), yet other surveyors have been known to be more than helpful, and have given invaluable advice!
