Whether or not resident resources (resident's responsibility, patient liability - the Medicaid designated monthly payment due from the recipient) are applicable toward Medicaid coinsurance amounts depends on your particular state's Medicaid payment rules.  Some states pay Medicaid coinsurance for Medicare Part-A services in full and some states pay nothing at all towards coinsurance.  At one time some states were applying "resident resources" to coinsurance balances due from Medicaid residents on Part-A services.  The best thing to do would be to contact your state medicaid assistance program to find out what the state requires for Medicaid recipients during a covered Medicare Part-A stay.

The resources I am referring to is the SSI check minus the $30.00 & the C+ payment. I have a friend who has a loved one in a nursing home... the resident is MCR A and my friend has received a bill for "resources"... not the 20% co-pay. The resident is to be MCD after MCR... should my friend have this bill & if she pays it, should she expect a refund at some point when MCD goes into effect?  So exactly what is supposed to happen to his check from day one?

May I ask what resources you are talking about? Even through we do not bill individual services or items to Medicare Part A they should be listed on the UB92.
I have a billing question... are resources charged to a person when on MCR  A?  or just when MCD comes into effect?
