Depends upon the state if they are rejected or not.....some states require transmission of assessments for non-certified beds....SUB_REQ would then be 2.

From page 2 of the SUB_REQ manual.........

Value = 2, indicating that the MDS record is for a resident on a unit that is neither Medicare nor Medicaid certified, but the State has authority under state licensure or Medicaid requirements to collect MDS information for residents on this unit.

You would probably still have to treat as a new resident even if the assessments were transmitted with SUB_REQ=2.

You would not do transmission for residents in noncertified beds.  As a matter of fact, the state rejects them when you attempt to send them.

MDS transmission has been required for all OBRA assessments since 6/22/98.  Have you received a citation in the mail for failure to transmit?  It is always a widespread scope and the initial cite is a C, and it climbs the severity ladder on the second cite, etc.

We are converting quite a few beds from non-certified to certified.  We have done MDSs on the people in the non-cert beds but have not transported to the state.  Will we have to do admission assessments on these long term care residents now although they may have been in the same bed for years?
