But chemically hydroxyzine (Atarax, Vistaril) is an antihistamine.  That's how I've always dealt with it.  It doesn't even show up in the psychotropics.  Am I wrong?

I have always classified hydroxyzine (Vistaril, Atarax) as anti-anxiety. The RAI Manual is unclear, at least what I can find on my computer file at home.

What drug is it? And is it classified as both, or used as both?  Many benzodiazepines are classified as one or the other, but are used fairly interchangeably.

being given or the classification the medication is in the PDR? Our psych MD
frequently puts residents on Neurotin for anxiety.
