Would he allow someone to come to his room and announce "trays have arrived?"  Let him know that you can do that for him as the other residents prefer to not hearing overhead paging (I'm guessing that is why you don't page overhead).

Subject: question for group

We have a resident who came to us from another home.  He has been here for a couple of years now.  He still refuses to come to meals on time because we do not announce "trays have arrived" over the PA system like his old facility did.  Our meal times are slightly earlier then the other facility.  Initially we marked F3c on the MDS that his routine was different, then we marked F2g that he does not adjust easily to change in routine.  Now we are wondering how long we would continue to mark that or is he resisting care (E4e)?  I understand this is not a reimbursement issue but we want to be accurate.  Maybe after this length of time we would no longer mark it anywhere?

He does not have changes in weight as he eventually goes to meals and appetite is adequate so it's not a weight issue.  We have buffet style serving so it holds dietary up to wait until he comes to be able to serve those at his table.  We also have to make accommodation when we arrange the dining room that he can get to a table without disrupting others when he comes in late and also that he isn't too close to anyone else who would want to leave before he is finished.  Not that we aren't use to making these accommodations for him, just seems as if it would go somewhere on the MDS.

Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jane
