Like I said in another email, 6 months ago, this was my dream job. I had respect from the administration and staff, a wonderful rapport with residents and families, and enjoyed the job so much I could hardly believe I got paid for it. There was a change in administrators, but the primary problem is the DON. > >In the time I have been there (15 months) I have seen so many CNAs fired for unbelievably petty stuff. Since the 1st of December, we have had more agency CNAs than our own staff. In December, one CNA's house burned down. She called the next morning to say she had no clothes to wear... the DON told her to borrow something and come to work or she wouldn't have a job. This child came to work in bedroom shoes and clothes that were 2 sizes too big, just so she wouldn't get fired!!!!!! > >We have many of the same problems with nurses who just don't do what they are told, don't do even basic nursing procedures correctly, and nothing happens to them. > >My fervent wish is that the regulatory agencies and county council can regain control of the facility and establish some appropriate management. The residents deserve so much better than they are geting right now. But, my family needs me to be sane, contented and peaceful. Since December, I have regularly worked 50 hours a week, got home after 7 pm every night, worked Saturdays, and cried almost every night. Since Wednesday, I haven't cried at all. > >We are really close geographically, by the way.. I am in central South Carolina, about a half hour west of Columbia. > >email me privately sometime... Oh my! If so, do you have another in place? As I read my email from you, talk about tired, depressed and stressed, I am amazed you could read it. What typo's. You hang in. I am in Myrtle Beach this weekend w/my husband, he has a stroke clinic he does 4 x's a year. We live in N.C. about 3 hours away, no plane or frills. I had thought I needed a vacation, but the real problem remains, and after reading multiple emails, it appears it is just not my facility, it seems like it is every where, like a MRSA infection that has effected all of our facilities, and the sad part, even colonized, MRSA never goes away. > > Please let me know how you are feeling. > > The nurses are not mad at me, they just flat out don't respect management, no matter how the DON/ADON work the schedule around their personal needs. They have never worked in any other nurse setting other than LTC, and consider themselves a big family. To know me is to know that there is no silly question, nothing you can't ask for me help or assist the nurses or CNA's, hell I even have gone down, many times to laundry and folded linens for the CNA's > > As long as I know that I have knowledge, respect of nurses that share the same along w/me I have no problem > > The others I will write up them up over and over and over.
