Hi all,

I find the thread on initial admission care plans and mention of standards of care very interesting. It's raised some questions.

By virtue of being a resident, there are certain things that the facility provides that, in my mind, are a "given" . i. e. Providing 3 meals a day, providing at least 2 baths/showers a week to include a shampoo with each, as are the interventions that go along with said care. Do you care plan these basic items, or just what makes each different for each resident?  I'm only at this facility 3 months, and while the care plans they have been doing are wonderful, they are miles long because they go into minutia listing things that should be a matter of good standard practice.

I've suggested writing a policy that says "All resident's of TVH will recieve blah blah blah" and then concentrate on customizing the individual care plans.

What do you think about this and what do you do at your facility?

Thanks,

Dorothy
