I agree, we are to view residents individually. I would love to not have to carry a dx of pneumonia or dehydration on the 14 day assessment. It is easier to resolve dehydration, but it is difficult to resolve pneumonia at times by the 14 day. The residents daily living and their ability to function is directly r/t a dx of pneumonia. Weakness, sob, poor endurance to activity, etc. I myself have had pneumonia two times in a three month period. Per my MD, it can take up to 6 months to resolve depending on the damage done to your lungs, and I am a lot younger that the residents we are providing care for.
