As y'all know, I am getting ready to leave what was once my dream job.  It's a 118 bed facility where I have been the only MDS Coordinator since December 02.  We started out with 8-10 Medicare census avg. For the past 9 months it's been more like 15-20, with a high of 28 last summer.  When MDS was all I had to do, I loved it. I was able to keep up  but was certainly never bored.  I didn't worry about taking a few days off if I needed or wanted to. Over the past 6 months, however, I have had more and more responsibilities added, with no help offered.  I was coordinating the admissions process and doing prescreening and all that, was sent to work on the pain management project that the state was doing, inservicing staff... In December  I started taking call every 3rd weekend. In January I was given a 20 bed unit to manage. Currently, I have an RN working 8 hours a week to help me.  We were both told inaccuracies regarding what her responsibilities would be.

March 5 is my last day.  I am going to a 132 bed facility where I will work with a FT LPN who has been doing MDS there for a couple of years.  I don't know what my current facility will be doing.  I have yet to meet anyone who has even expressed an interest in the position.

We are a 100 bed facility and have 10-15 medicare A residents at any given time. Our office is myself (RN) and one full time LPN. She has been doing MDS's for over 6 years here, and I have been here over 4 years. We divide up long term, and I do all Medicare.
we also do all Care Plans. We always feel like we are behind......Hope this Helps

If your referencing the number of NACs, our building is 134 beds runs 10-12 medicare and we have one FT RN and one FT LPN.  We are told constantly that we have too many mds people.

I am working in a 120 bed facility.  We are running about 105 census w/ about 30 MCRs.  We have 2.0 FTEs: 1 FTE LPN 1.8 FTE RN and .2 FTE LPN.  How does this stack up against the way most facilities of this size are running?

Thanks!
