A nitro drip IV medication is NEVER used in the nursing home setting. It is usually only used in an intensive care unit of an acute care hospital. Now things may have changed since I have done hospital nursing, but, I would never allow this type of medication process in any nursing home that I managed or worked in. This is a disaster waiting to happen.
Dear Listmates:
  I have 3 questions. Please:
1} Does any one know where I can get a list of IV meds used in Nursing homes?
2} Is a nitro drip used in NHs for residents or only hospital Pts.?
3} How many of you have seen this in your homes? Is it legal? It is safe?
I don't think so, needs closed monitoring BP, etc., I would like to hear what you have to say on this matter.
Thank you.
my fax is 305-633-7593

Sincerely,
BestLittleNurse
