Thanks Angie,  You are right about the weight being lifted. I felt about 10000# lighter.

That's very interesting about the foley. I use the same goal when I have a foley in to promote wound healing. Obviously you can't predict when the wound will be healed. What I usually write is that foley will be removed within 7 days of complete wound healing, or as ordered by MD. Has never been questioned.

Surveyors out there?  What do you think of this?

Congrats to you, Holly.  What a weight lifted from your shoulders.  I am glad everything went well.  Thanks also to everyone who responded to my Medicare eligibility question.

State is in and the facility will probably be getting written up on care plans.  Resident has a MD order for a Foley until wound heals. Care Plan states that the Foley will be d/cd once the wound is healed.  Signs and symptoms of UTI are also addressed on this Care Plan.  State Surveyor stated the Care Plan needed an actual date of when the Foley would be discontinued.  Care Plan coordinated stated that she did not know exactly when the wound would be healed.  DON asked to see it in the Regulations.  We are not aware of this.  Has anyone ever had this happen to them?  Thanks in advance.

Angie
