Yoiur surveyor is out to lunch or on a power trip.  Tell her you want to be certain that you won't do thing wrong again, and could she please show you the regulation that covers this?  Guarantee she won't cite you for that specific problem.  On the other hand, you might consider your goal that Foley will be removed within one week after wound closure (just to be certain it doesn't open again).

Congrats to you, Holly.  What a weight lifted from your shoulders.  I am glad everything went well.  Thanks also to everyone who responded to my Medicare eligibility question.

State is in and the facility will probably be getting written up on care plans.  Resident has a MD order for a “Foley until wound heals”. Care Plan states that the Foley will be d/cd once the wound is healed.  Signs and symptoms of UTI are also addressed on this Care Plan.  State Surveyor stated the Care Plan needed an actual date of when the Foley would be discontinued.  Care Plan coordinated stated that she did not know exactly when the wound would be healed.  DON asked to see it in the Regulations.  We are not aware of this.  Has anyone ever had this happen to them?  Thanks in advance.
