The use of side rails can only be used to treat a resident's medical symptoms, not
because the family requests them. A medical symptom is defined as an indication or
characteristic of a physical or psychological condition. (according to The Long Term
Care Survey book f-tag 221)

Subject: side rail restraint?

Hello,
I was wondering how everybody else are writing the orders for side rails
when the only reason there up is because of family request? Any help would
be deeply appreciated.
