We just admitted a resident with a debrided decub (stasis gangrenous ulcer with a wound vac)

Do I stage this as a decub or is it now considered a surgical wound?

A stasis ulcer is not a decubitus (pressure) ulcer.  However, stasis ulcers are staged for coding in Section M1 and M2b, and it would continue to be coded there.  It would not be coded as a surgical wound.

With the debridement completeâis it still considered to be an infection and coded in section I ?

If it meets the definition of infection, then it would still be coded there regardless of debridement.  If it is not infected, it would not be coded at I2.

Thanks
