It is not clear from your email whether your resident was covered by Medicare A in his first stay with you.  In any case, he was discharged from your facility(and skilled services when he went home).  IF he was still covered by Medicare on March 18th, he would be within the 30 day window of the skilled services.  He could be picked up again, if he would be covered for a condition that was treated in the 3 day qualifying stay or during the SNF skilled stay.
If he was not on Medicare A skilled stay in the past 30 days, he would need another 3 day qualifying stay before he could be covered again.

Subject: Re entry after discharge return not expected

Have a question for clarification. We have a resident who was d/c'd from hospital after qualifying stay on 2/11/04 and admitted to our facility. On March 18 he was adamant about being d/c'd home with a family member and H.H. Between 3/18 and 3/26 he was a frequent flyer between hospital E.R. and his physician, so he came back to us for further rehab. The manual states "admission for SNF-level services within 30 days of discharge from an acute care stay". Does the fact that he was here from 2/11-3/18 have any influence?
Thanks for the assistance
Betty H.
