Are you talking about someone who is delusional?  Confabulate basically means to chat or to fill one’s memory with things that are not true.    If the resident is demented or this is a long standing problem, you will likely be able to do nothing to reverse this trend.  I would use the goal that the resident would respond to redirection, etc.   Brenda W.
