Title: Message
Oh boy, I am used to this kind of back and forth  "stuff" on non-professional web sites, didn't anticipate it continuing on here !!.  I was asked to change the color I used to type as it was not blue or black and therefore could not be read, but I didn't get uppity about it.  Can all this stuff be put to rest ?  I LOVE  the information I'm learning here, but , don't we have enough emails from this list serve to get thru without this extra stuff ?  Gary, I also  would appreciate if you could teach me how to insert the signature line, as I don't know how and am too lazy to type that in all the time.  THANKS !! Nadine

Subject: RE: signature lines

I'm sorry but I don't agree.   Including a signature line with company and contact information is courteous and helpful.  My email software is configured to automatically insert a signature line in every email I type.  Many people do this and I liken it to properly signing a letter on company letterhead.  When I send a message, you know who I am, where I'm from and how to contact me.

It would be extremely useful if everyone who posts messages here included a signature line so everyone knows who they are and how to contact them if they wish to.  If a consultant or vendor contributes useful information to this listserve or responds helpfully to a question, there is nothing wrong with including a signature line showing who they are.  You should judge a persons pompousness by the content of their message rather than how they sign it.

Also,  Marti is not banned from this listserve and we're happy to have her as part of the group.  She contacted me privately and we resolved the misunderstanding that same evening.   In the several years I've moderated this listserve, only a few people have been banned.  Those were individuals who ignored requests to stop violating listserve policy.   I agree that the commotion with Marti was unpleasant.  I tried to deal with the issue privately and apologize if anyone felt I was less than respectful.

Please feel free to criticize.  You might not get a Christmas card from me but you won't be banned.

-Gary

I agree with the comment about people who include thier company title, and a link to thier company.  That is far worse than anything Marti did.  It is pompous and self
