WOW, the DON used interesting terminolgoy.  Nothing in life is free, especially in the waiting period as the patient has to be closely mointored not only for medical needs, but to see if therapy can possibly pick the person back up.  During this time I am conversing with therapy and nursing more than during a regular observation time, it is probably more expensive than free.

Hi Annette.  Go to: http://www.cms.hhs.gov/medicaid/mds20/man-form.asp?  You can download it from there.  As far as referring to the OMRA period as a "freebie", I recommend reading the Manual Chapter 2, page 31.

Could someone please point me to the exact place where I can download the RAI manual on-line! The DON has decided to sit in on the Medicare Meeting and states that Medicare has given facilities a "freebie" for 8 days after therapy has DCed. I disagree however I would like to take the documentation to her. Thanks! Annette
