To
single out a group of nurses over another group and generalize like this list
serve has over the weekend is embarrassing as a nurse. Hopefully this will
not be used for such a hurtful attacks on a profession. I've worked in
many different areas in the hospital and have worked in and out of long term
care for 21 years. Focus on presenting education if it is that great
of concern to anyone. Solving problems instead of perpetuating them
will only help the residents and patients we serve. No nurse goes into
work to do harm in any setting. Go the extra step and call and help them
with the patients care plan . We can't expect the nurses receiving the
patients to know all the nuances of a patient that took us 14 to 30 days to find
out. Acute nursing does not have that kind of time. If we think
about the patient and less about ourselves we will move nursing ahead and
make a safer and faster recovery for our patients.
