To single out a group of nurses over another group and generalize like this list serve has over the weekend is embarrassing as a nurse.  Hopefully this will not be used for such a hurtful attacks on a profession.  I've worked in many different areas in the hospital and have worked in and out of long term care for 21 years.  Focus on presenting education if it is that great of concern to anyone.  Solving problems instead of perpetuating them will only help the residents and patients we serve.  No nurse goes into work to do harm in any setting. Go the extra step and call and help them with the patients care plan .  We can't expect the nurses receiving the patients to know all the nuances of a patient that took us 14 to 30 days to find out.  Acute nursing does not have that kind of time.  If we think about the patient and less about ourselves we will move nursing ahead and make a safer and faster recovery for our patients.

You are absolutley correct. Trust an ombudsman to get to the heart of all of our venting and complaining - the BEST for OUR patients. Nursing home nurses beomce very proprietary about residents - we don't really mean to insult you, we just want our clents to come back to us at least as healthy as we sent them out.

Dear RN Medical Legal nurse,

I don't think the nurses here are saying that hospital nurses are neglectful in their assessments. I see so many pressure sore problems both from hospitals and nursing homes as an ombudsman.

{I think now guys, correct me if I am wrong, I know you will.}

That the nursing home nurses want you as hospital nurses to be aware of their resident's problems, health issues etc. That you know and be aware they are more prone to many more problems.

We all want what is best for our residents.
Am I right here?

Have a super lovely day!
