I think that you should count it as both an IV med
and parenteral/IV. Remember that the lookback period for IVs is only 7
days but is 14 days for IV meds. The fluid in the D5w is certainly more
than what is usually in an IV piggyback, so I would count it.

Order that reads: D5W with 20meq KCL and
the hospital MAR indicates that during one day of the assessment period 368cc
was infused per IV. I have been told that we can only count the KCL
medication in section P1ac as the 368cc of fluid was only used as a
diluent for the KCL.
We did mark section P to capture the IV
medication, but the question is can we count the fluids used to administer the
IV medication as IV fluids?
