I am not sure if I mentioned here that my sister is only a half match. I was a little bit unhappy to hear that. Can I ask my doctor to check just to make sure if there is any possible donor for me? I shouldn't think about it, but I always think ahead and I just would like to feel better. Also doctor said that there is a chance to do bmt just with a half match however it is still in experimental phase. Do you know anybody who had a bmt with a half match?
I am thinking about BMT all day long today. I do not know why. I should be so optimistic and happy about beeing on Gleevec and responding so good but those numbers about relapsing are shocking me. I am thinking that after Gleevec, we have BMS and AMN107 (?) but is it going to bring a cure? What if I will be on all those pills for couple years, let's say 15 years and after I will be 43 and there will be nothing else... BMT is going to be more risky for me, right?
Not very good thoughts, I am sorry. I was hoping there is maybe another young person thiniking like me : )
Also, I was asking at Kaiser if they can do a stem cell harvest for me. It looks like no, but I was reffered before to Johns Hopkins and I was talking to that doctor over there and he said that if in September my PCR and BMB will be negative, we can talk about it. Maybe there is a way how to do it and if not, I was thinking about Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Maybe there is a chance to get some financial aid. Do you have any experience?
