To help treat muscle cramps I have found that it is very important to drink at least 2 liters of water a day.  The muscle cramps become much more intense when you are dehydrated.  Also taking Calcium citrate, one tablet, three times a day helps a lot.  But keep in mind that calcium supplements shouldn't be taken within two hours of Gleevec.  When buying Calium tablets you should be purchasing calcium CITRATE over calcium carbonate.  Though they are more expensive you're body metabolises them more efficiently, therefore helping decrease the cramping.  Sometime Quinine is prescribed for muscle cramps but I found that it doesn't work all that well.  Quinine is also found in Tonic water so if you can stomach the taste of Tonic drinking it will also help with cramps.  I hope this helps.

I just woke up with a terrible cramp in my left calf.I hang on the the wall and tried to work this cramp out, screaming in pain.It seemed like forever, but in about 10 minutes the pain started to stop. Then I got a foot cramp in my right foot .worse then the left leg.I cant sit, the pain is unbearable.I tried to move around applying pressure on the foot, screamin in pain, praying for the pain to go away. The pain was so bad I was crying. Finally it stopped ,but I am so exhausted from those 20 minutes of torture.
Does anyone have any help for this? I never had cramps and pain like this before the "gleevec".
Thanks.....Nancy
