What were your starting counts and your current counts. What were your blast counts? It depends on what phase of the illness your in on the effectiveness of the treatement. I know there has been better response rates in later phases of the disease with the new treatments currently in trial. My onc actually made comment that when they roll the 'new/improved/ Gleevec out in a year that he may go ahead and swith me over. There are a lot of occassions where an increased dose of the Gleevec did gain the response the onc wanted, each individual is different and the treatment needs vary. If your not feeling comfortable with your treatment/doctor you should get a second opinion, if for nothing else than piece of mind. Make sure they are knowledgable in CML. I hope you get good news with your last biopsy! Take care! Brenda

Dr. tells me only 2 more options left before bone marrow. One of thoes is 800mg of gleevec but he is not hopeful. Just had my second biopsy will find out what doc is doing on the 14th. He says he may skip the gleevec and go right to the "super gleevec" . I dont like that option ... i want to try the gleevec ive heard of some people having good results.Any way willl let you know what happens. Im in the 3 percent of 31 y/o females with this , in the 10% of people who work up a resistance to gleevec w/o a remission. What are the odds lol. I stand hopeful that my chromosomes will be stubborn like me and kick this :) > Char :) :) :) > dx 12/04 > 400mg gleevec > > > --------------------------------- > Sell on Yahoo! Auctions - No fees.
