If your oncologist said there are No side
effects, he/she is not familiar with CML or Gleevec.
Here is the site from Novartis, the developer of
Gleevec, with information on the side effects:

Subject: [CML] thyroid cancer
survivor?
I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago during a routine pre-op for
minor surgery and immediately put on 400mg. Gleevec. I feel nauseous,
crampy, constipated and I can't seem to sleep. My oncologist says
there are NO side effects to this wonder drug! Any other thyroid
cancer victims out there? I was treated 2X in 1998 for Papillary CA
with RAI isotopes. I think that may have caused my present
situation. Any suggestions on how to deal with these side effects?
I'm scared, tired and thought I'd never have to "fight" again.
